Mess with my money, it is war

If any of you who happen to live in the 206 area code know who lives at 1540 N. 68th St. in Seattle, I would like to know. Why would I like to know? Because the person(s) who lives there is an identity thief. How do I know this? Because today while I was checking my on-line bank statement, it was considerably lighter than I expected it see, because of this thief. A charge of 156.87—which given the fact that I live paycheck-to-paycheck is a considerable sum to me—was applied to a purchase for parts from Carter Motors Volkswagen in Seattle the day before. I do not own a car or drive a vehicle save a tug at work, so I would have no reason to purchase auto parts. Nor do I actually “live” in Seattle—my mailing address is a post box in Seattle.

I set out to do some immediate investigating and stop this dastardly deed from ruining my day. There is obviously some on-line hacking going on, because the thief had to have obtained access to my personal billing address as well as my account number. I called the bank, which promised to look into the matter. I then called the business through which the purchase was made; although they claimed they couldn’t help save through the bank’s intercession, they did provide me with the above address where the goods were shipped to. I then submitted a police report; although it is unlikely that the SPD will follow-up and give this person a visit, at least the case is a matter of record. Maybe I’ll give Mr. Thief a “visit” myself. If this person has engaged in this theft before, maybe others will come forward with similar reports.

Don’t worry, Mr. Thief, I will obtain justice--and I hope you do too.
