For those interested, in the case of Cordell Jude in the murder of Daniel Adkins I have been informed that his trial has been delayed for the third time. There were arguments concerning allowing Jude's prior criminal history into evidence, and in regard to allowing cameras in the court room, which the prosecution opposes. Jerry Cobb of the Maricopa County Attorney's Office responded to my inquiry on the present disposition of the case thus:
The
case is still set for trial on October 23. The Court has ruled to
allow the State to introduce some of the evidence of the defendant’s
other wrong acts,
and has not yet ruled on the request for cameras in the courtroom.
These types of pretrial motions and arguments, as tedious as they may
seem, are not at all unusual for a homicide case.
Keep in mind that the original trial date was in August. I will keep those interested posted on any further developments.
