Last Friday in a Maricopa County, Arizona courthouse, the Cordell Jude case came to an official end. Convicted in the reckless manslaughter of Daniel Adkins, he could have been sentenced to 20 years in prison. Judge John Ditsworth sentenced Jude to 8 years in prison, minus 99 days already served. Jude was also ordered to pay Adkins' parents $5,500 in restitution. Such is the value of a developmentally-disabled man out walking his dog.
