So, Democrats should just join the Republican Party, as a new "report" apparently by center-right Clinton Democrats implies they should?

I just want to throw this out there because it angered me so much. There are people falling all over themselves about a new “report” from some group called "Welcome" (whatever) entitled Toward a Common Sense Renewal of the Democratic Party that seems to have quite a bit of support from Fox News, Republican pollsters and “old-guard” center-right Democrats from the Clinton  era (you know, the ones who backed the “financial reform” bill that caused the 2007-2008 Great Recession?).

The people who compiled and support this new “report” made the mistake of including all voters, not just the views of Democratic voters, who  believe the party (in general, there are exceptions) has gone too “soft” on opposing Trump and the Republicans current fascination with fascist politics and policies. We are supposed to take the racist views of the far-right into equal account, and not judge whether they are out-of-touch with reality themselves and not self-involved in their own malignant narcissism.

I don’t think this report is deserving of any more publicity than it is getting, if only because it’s loudest backers are not those on the “left” but those on the far-right, who want us to believe they are for the “working people” when we know all Trump and the Republicans are doing "for them" is feeding into their racism and paranoia.

The group calling itself "Welcome" apparently insists that we must do what is "necessary" to be "welcomed" into the nightmare vision of the world in order to “win,” but there is no real explanation of how to differentiate themselves from Trump and the Republicans. It just wants us to join them down the (for now just "slippery") slope of embracing lawlessness, moral and ethical corruption, gut due process and the bill of rights (at least those that don’t have anything to do with guns), and follow the fascist and corporatist order. Sure, they don't say so explicitly, but that is the de facto result, since apparently those 70 percent of Americans believe it is Democrats and not Republicans who embrace those “principles.”

When we hear that those like Fox News' Gutfeld praises this report, what the hell does that mean? We know that Gutfeld and his Fox News colleagues don’t give a damn about working Americans, only in repeating far-right talking points and licking Trump’s fundament. We are actually supposed to believe this report offers an "alternative" to the far-right gutting of freedoms in support of a fascist dictator? The destructive trade and mass deportation policies that are harming food prices and jobs?

It doesn't, it just points toward narcissism and moral and ethical failure. It's compilers are no different that the far-right fascists (in my opinion), since it suggests we should all be aiming for the "same thing" even when we know that what that is now is currently heading this country toward the destruction of democracy and even considering economic inequality a "problem." It sure seems to me that the economy was “greater” under Biden than it is under Trump, even taking inflation into account. But we are just supposed to just follow Der Fuhrer over the cliff rather than vote Democratic?

I mean, where is it said in the report that Trump's foolish trade wars that were motivated solely by his depraved desire to bully the world were “out-of-touch,” as we now see that the country gained nothing, and China has emerged as the winner? Where is it said that Trump is "out-of-touch" heading to Palm Beach to play golf after his  fake trade "deals" that he was content to be "flattered" with personal gifts, and during the continuing government shutdown?

Where does it say that Republicans refusing to negotiate on SNAP and healthcare subsidies are "out-of-touch" with working people? Are Democratic voters "OK" with the fact that Trump gave billionaires trillions in tax cuts to pay for cuts in social programs? Or is it only radical "leftists" who are "out-of-touch" who care about that stuff?

What is to be said when Republican pollsters support this "study"? It means that all of us are supposed to cave-in to the views of the far-right and their corporate paymasters, who installed as  CBS News' new editor-in-chief Bari Weiss (a far-right racist who accuses those accusing her of that to be "antisemitic"), who wants to turn it into a network version of Fox News.  This so-called "report" is more about the opinions of the racist right, not about the (alleged) majority of Americans who see ICE thugs beating people on the street on the news every day, or the military being paid to blow people out of the water without that "evidence."

Oh, but Democrats are not talking about the economy “enough”? Who the hell do voters think is responsible for food prices rising and jobs losses right now because of some demented megalomaniac’s desire to bully the world because it makes him feel ”great”? The people who did this report should have asked who was most responsible for the problems of working people, and then asked them why they still voted Republican. That is what is “out-of-touch.”
